Truth and beauty

Truth and beauty by Ann Patchett

Ann Patchett was accused very hardly on her book "Truth and Beauty". I imagine that is not easy to receive this types of comments that involves your death best friend and a book made by yourself about this topic.

I only see a book about a girl loving her best friend even that she can´t save her. If I were Ann I wouldn´t change anything or done something different, she wrote what she felt and also she emphasized at first that Truth and beauty book was a nonfiction book.
The way people and students judged Ann surely were not open minded opinions and let things get on top of Ann.

Besides of people opinions, I think that the best idea is to ignore what they say about your actions and decisions because most of the times these are unfair accusations that are caused by lots who don´t know anything about your life.
However, If Ann has a problem with the prejudices and wants to change something in her book it might be the public which the book is directed, nothing else.

  1. When someone publishes something, there will be people who agree with what the person is saying, and there will be people who will condemn it. For instance: your entry. I agree with you, but may be people who don´t. I believe that people must fight for their ideas, if they are reasonable.

  2. I agree with you about how students poorly judge the book. They did know little about Ane's situation and was not empathy at all. Even thought students were the public that she was talking to in her book.

  3. Yeah, Anna was misjudged, but when you are a writer you must be thick-skinned because all you write will be criticized either fairly or unfairly.
